Directives and our Certification processes:
1. EU Directives
● RoHS EU-Directive 2002/95/EC
● WEEE EU-Directive 2002/96/EC
As a manufacturer of non-electrically powered ZB TOOLS (Hand tools and
Machinery), ABECO is not obliged to adhere to these directives.
However, our products are being used in the electrical, electronics
and related industries and work processes, which more often than not
require compliance with these directives. Therefore, we have taken the
initiative to provide our customers with the relevant information and
assurance regarding the components used in our products.
With this initiative we recognize the requirements of the EC
directives 2002/95/EC on waste electrical and electronic equipment and
2002/96/EC on the restriction of the use of certain hazardous
substances in electrical and electronic equipment.
RoHS
The RoHS Directive of January 27, 2003 bans the use of certain
substances in new electrical and electronic equipment put on the
market from July 1, 2006 (exceptions for certain applications are
listed in the Annex of the directive). The banned substances are lead,
mercury, cadmium, hexavalent chromium, polybrominated biphenyls (PBB)
or polybrominated diphenyl ethers (PBDE).
WEEE
The directive 2002/96/EC and the amending directive 2003/108/EC aim at
the prevention of waste electrical and electronic equipment. In
addition recycling, reuse and other forms of recovery of such wastes
are encouraged. Recovery targets exist which vary throughout the
product categories and which are to be achieved by June 31, 2006. The
producers have to assure the collection, the treatment and the
recovery of the appliances listed in Annex IA of the WEEE which are
put on the market after the August 13, 2005.
Our Implementation
The analysis of the components used for our products manufactured by
ABECO brought the result that we already fulfill the requirements of
the RoHS concerning the ban of substances.
Implementation of the EU directives is another means of showing our

2. Certification
All our products go through an internal :
● Certification Process and
Documentation regarding
performance in conformity
with the respective capacity.
● Stress Testing Process and
Documentation regarding
endurance and quality.
Customized Certification in
accordance with customers' requirements and
specifications can be provided upon request and may involve some
additional cost.
